I have a 4 week old baby girl who I'm working on getting on the Babywise schedule to improve her nighttime sleep schedule. The past few days she has been eating irregularly. Since she was born she was on a 3 hour schedule to the minute almost exactly. Recently, she has been showing hunger cues at 1.5 hours during the day. At night, once we get her to sleep (she's nurses around 10pm but won't really go to sleep even when we lay her down on her own until after her next feeding around 1am -- this is what we're trying to fix getting her on the Babywise schedule now), she will feed every 3 hours as normal. If she is real fussy after her 10pm feeding, she's wanting to eat every 30-45 minutes. I am assuming this totally irregular schedule is due to a growth spurt.
Have any of you experienced this with your newborn? Should I be doing something differently? An d mainly, what is your advice to keep her on the Babywise schedule even during a growth spurt? Do I (wake her up and) feed her again at the 3 hour mark (7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, 10pm) even after I just fed her at the 1.5 hour mark?
For example, I fed her at 1:00 p.m. and she was up for about 25 minutes and then I laid her down and she went to sleep. She woke up, had strong feeding cues, at 2:30 p.m. and I fed her a full feeding. She has taken two tiny cat naps for about 10 minutes each. It is now 4:00 p.m. and she is just going to sleep. Should I be feeding her again to get her back on schedule? Or do I just wait until she shows feeding cues again even if it's before 7pm?
I appreciate any advice you can give me!
