With all the flus, guns, gangs, and other things we discurage our children from. We are thinking of home schooling our three children (4 yr old twins and a 2 yr old) who havent been in a public school yet.

Well I have two sons one in 8th grade and one in 6th this year..Until this year they have always went to public school, but this year I enrolled them in cyber school and I am already loving it and they are too..I dont think homeschooling has the negative outlook it use to...My cyber school is very easy to use...best of all its free and considered a public school and the school provides them with all of their books, materials and even their computers and printers for FREE... Their teachers are right there with you every step of the way...And they have interactive classroom time in each subject every week . The kids get to interact with their classmaters..they have lots of clubs and even field trips to help the children interact...so they dont miss out....I am in Pennsylvanina but this school is in many states..just look up wwww.connectionsacademy.com...atleast it will give you an idea about the typical homeschool these days

I agree the world is a scary place and putting our precious children out there is terriffing but kids really need to experience social activities. I have 21,19, and 15 and have been through it all. We just dropped my middle child off at college, one of his friends roommate's was homeschooled and is having a difficult time adjusting.
Unforunately we can't prevent everything ( I always said I was going to bubble wrap my kids) but we can do our best when things occur and help our children learn ffrom them.
Keeping them hidden away doesn't help either. Best of luck

Kids at those ages need the company of other kids. If you have the patience to home school or the ability to hire a private teacher + take them to other activities with other children so they can interact and have friends besides the family kids, I say go for it. Be honest with yourself when it comes to your ability to actually put them in a routine and make sure you stick to it. It's not easy to be a mother and a teacher at the same time. I know a few moms that did that and they are as happy as can be and so are their kids and I know some moms that gave it a try and admitted it is not for them. I personaly never tried as I knew I will not be able to keep up with it. I am sure wich ever choice you make will be the best for you and your family. Osnat http://maaslife.blogspot.com/
