Swine Flu Vaccinations for the under 5's ?

Hi Kerry. I asked both our normal GP and the paediatric respiratory specialist about this during the week (My son has had a major flare up with his asthma in the last week.)
Both said "we don't know enough about it yet - so no" ... we do get the yearly flu vaccine (has kept Matthew out of hospital the last two winters) and both doctors said there will be a component of the swine flu vaccine in this year's flu shot. They suggested strongly that we get the updated flu shot again this year ... so there will be some protection in that.
Hope my information helps. You can always phone your GP or even the Medicines Line 1300888763 as I have found them extremely helpful in the past when querying side effects of medications my son has had. Good luck :O)

My daughter is 9 and has severe Asthma. I gave her the shot. she had minimal reaction the next day she ran a low grade fever. If your child has a medical condition I would say get the vaccine without a dought otherwise talk to your doctor. I do know that the pediatric shots ( those for kids under months are Murc. free. However like I said I wasnt taking the chance as all the people who have had a bad H1N1 illness or passed on from it have had underliying conditions. Good Luck!!!
