My husband and I have a pretty surefire method for getting some time away from our kids at least every other month or so. Our kids are on a pretty tight schedule. Bedtime is at 8 sharp. We have found that if we find a sitter who is close to our kids (their aunts, uncles, or grandparents) who can come to our house for the evening, that works best. I usually will make the kids' dinner (enough for the sitter, too) and have the sitter "join them for dinner" then while they are all eating, my husband and i give kisses and hugs say good night and that we'll see them in the a.m. After supper, we are already gone, but have given their sitter general instructions on bedtime routine. (which is pjs brush teeth, storytime and then straight to bed). I have found that if the sitter sticks to this (basically. after all part of the fun of a sitter is that you can usually squeak out an extra story or bedtime snack or something that maybe mommy or daddy don't allow) the sitter has almost no trouble with the kids and they basically have a free evening of peace and quiet cuz kids are asleep and they really just need to be there to make sure no emergencies take place. Works like a charm for us. good luck.

Depends on the ages of your kids and the flexibility of your schedules...if you make a date and write it on the calendar, then treat it like you would any other appt. Prepare and plan accordingly for the upcoming date, just as you would for a meeting or hair appt. or whatever else. Blessings

Maybe you can try to set up schedule with someone to watch your kids, so you can have some time to yourself like one evening during week or one day on the weekend.
