I agree there is really no specific age. You want the topic there as soon as the are able to comprehend what a toilet is. Just so they know what it is. According to my sons pediatrician they are ready to start potty training when they start to leave their diapers dry. This means they can control their bladder a little better then when they were babies. Plus your child will begin to tell you they are wet or have soiled their diapers. Most children show signs of when they are going to go to the restroom (example, passing gas, or staying in a secluded area for a moment). Just keep consistent with what ever you do. That is the most important! Good luck!

it's really up to the child and the parent. you have to be just as ready as the child. put the potty in the bathroom and let them come in and use it anytime someone is in the bathroom. pretty soon they surprise themselves when the actually use it.

It really does depend on the child. Look for signs that your child is ready...does your child let you know when he or she has wet or soiled the diaper? Can your child communicate to you that he or she needs to make a bowel movement? See how long your child is capable of staying dry during the day. Those are some of the factors to consider when deciding to begin potty usage.

There really isnt a magical age when a child is suddenly ready. My 3 all started at different ages. Just gauge your childs reactions when you ask them about using a potty chair. Make it a fun time and dont put any pressure on the child. Be patient and most likely your child ends up telling you their ready.
