Bearing the Burden of Mental Illness and Striving to be Free

This is a group for mommies who may have struggled or who are currently struggling with mental illness. It might be you, a child, or another close friend or family member. We will discuss topics relating to mental illnesses, including postpartum depression. While this will be a forum based on Christian ways of coping with mental illness, all faiths are welcome to join. There are so many stigmas associated with something that is often learned and/or simply biological. A person can feel isolated and hopeless. She might become paranoid for fear that others will discover her horrible, dark secret. Perhaps knowing that there are others out there with this disease can open the doors and allow us to escape from fear since so often we feel trapped. This forum will be closed. Anyone can see the group description, but only members can see threads, photos and videos in order to protect those who may not want others knowing details of their mental illness or that of a loved one. Any member can invite another to join, and this will be considered approval to join. Though most that join are probably not professional counselors or trained doctors, there is always hope in community. The Bible tells us in Galatians, chapter 6, verse 2, “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
