Depending on the texture, try Kinky Kurly or Mixed Chics hair products and make sure to use moisturizer often. I encourage you to use natural products and not to relax or use chemicals on her hair just to make it easier. Keeping her hair natural is so healthy for her. Check out bloggers like Curly Nikki or Curly Chic for tips and tricks. Curlychic.blogspot.com is a great source for good natural hair info.

I use Hawaaiian Silky for my daughters hair. It works wonders for her hair. I get it from Sally's beauty supply. And your daughter looks about the age my daughter was when i started using it in her hair.. I used to use the pink lotion. and it dried her hair out really bad, and all the soft and precious products were not helping it grow either. The bottle I get from Sally's is about 16-18 ounces and it around $5.00 and it lasts about 2 months for me. I usually do my daughters hair every other day. It doesnt take a lot.. just work it through her hair with a fine tooth comb.

I am mixed race and my husband is black so we didn't know what to expect with my son's hair. His is really curly and can get really dried out. We wash it every other day with normal baby shampoo and I just use Suave detangling spray to comb it out. If it's looking dry, I use a hair lotion by Soft and Beautiful. It's a teal container with a hot pink lid. It's like $3.99 and you can get it at Walgreen's or any drug store in their ethnic hair care section. I just put a dab of the moisturizer lotion in my hand and work it in his hair with my fingers after combing. I have also used Pink Oil Moisturizing lotion. I use a pick on my son's hair or a wide tooth comb. His hair grows super fast and we haven't had a problem with bald spots. I assume it's becuase he's a boy and I am not pulling it back or anything. I would lay off any rubber bands especially if she doesn't have really long hair. I know it's tempting when people have girls to want to put all kinds of bows and ponytails in their hair but if you pull too tight, you could be causing a lot of damage to her hair. If your daughter is biracial even though her hair is coarse, it might be very fine. I have that problem. It gets super curly unrelaxed but it is really fine and super brittle so if I tie it back to tight or wear it in barrettes a lot, it just snaps off. As a kid I had no hair because all anyone did was constantly tie my hair back. So keep that in mind when you style her hair. You might want to try a simple stretchy headband instead.

I have several bi-racial grandchildren... remember african-american need moisture on the hair... and it does not need to be washed daily. It may feed greasy to you but that is what the hair needs not heavy oil tho. like and S-curl spray will help it to be mangerable use brush instead of a comb so much. use rubberbands not tightly just enough to hold the hair together, if it is let loose it is easier to dry out and become unmangerable.. hope this helps

my daughter has very curly hair that looks like it would be very coarse and dry but it is really soft. I was using pink lotion on her hair but it seemed too heavy. Then i tried africas best herbal oil which her hair seems to soak right up and looks dry soon after applying it. I have recently started using just plain suave conditioner which really seems to work well for her. Like the other women said, it really depends on the texture of her hair and you finding what works best for you and your daughter. Good luck!!

I agree with Kandy because all hair is different and what works for one doesn't work for another. I use honeybee lotion on my daughters hair and it works just fine, so like Kandy said just try things and see what works best!

without seeing your daughter and the type of texture her hair has i can only let you know what i used on my children and grandkids. Both my kids are bi-racial and they have the thick course dry texture like their dad so for them i used pink lotion . its a little greasier and heavier but worked well in maintaining their hair. For my grandkids their hair is softer loose curls more caucasion like hair and for them we use a product called "Soft and precious moisturisings detangler" its in a pink and white bottle and can be found at walmart or the dollar general its about $3.00 a bottle. Its lighter not as greasy and works great on the softer textured hair....sometimes you just have to try a bunch of different products to find the one you like and works best for your child...Good luck hope this helps
