We live in MI, and money is tight this year. Normally we have money saved up for the party, but this year we have had a lot of unexpected expenses..new roof and garage walls, root canals, broken wrists (clumsy pubescent daughter, lol) tires, the list goes on and on....

Needles to say, its a HUGE milestone birthday, and I want to do it up right. Birthdays have always been a BIG thing in our family. As far as decorations, plates, napkins, ect..I'm covered. I've been picking things up here and there and I think I'm good. But games? Activities? Locations? I'm lost!! lol

He wants to have a treasure hunt. I have purchased the "jewels and gold" to fill the treasure chest, but how do you plan a treasure hunt in a small basement for 20 or so kids?! LOL And I would say we do it outside, but late November is snowing and freezing outside, and all the kids are coming in pirate costumes. (my sons request)

Any suggestions or tips would be FANTASTIC! :) I've never made a pirate map or planned a treasure hunt before..lol If they were a little older, I think I would have an easier time..I could set it up like a scavenger hunt almost, but even then, space is an issue.. :(

You could totally do a scavenger hunt. Make them go all over the house! Maybe split them up into three groups? Then you can make different clues for each group and have them work together. :D

You could also do bobbing for apples or even a "best dressed" contest? Make ribbons for best dressed, funniest pirate, most realistic, and then some for participation. But be sure to give everyone something, or else there could be hurt feelings.

You and your son can work together to make these ribbons, it could be fun bonding time.

Maybe a craft time? They can make eye patches or fake swords.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.
