I am married with 4 children, my oldest daughter is from a previous relationship. We are moving out of state b/c of my husbands job and will be closer to family. My daughter who's 10 chose to move in with her Dad. How can I prepare me and her for this huge transition and make sure she knows im not abandoning her and that I love her so very much?

Thank you so much!! Much of what you wrote I've thought of but wasn't sure if it was good enough, thank you for reassuring me I'm on the right track

ive never done this but i would

1 spend as much time with her b4 the move

2 talk to her and tell her how much you love her and that should she change her mind she is more than welcome to live with you

3 sort out holidays when she can stay with you mark up on a calender so she can look forward to it

4 if not already then buy her a mobile phone or set up email accounts ect so she can can contact you any time day or night

5 buy her a special leaving present a necklace locket or something with a piccie of you and her so she can look at it if she feels sad also maybe make a scrap book of you and her doing your fav things together

6 work with her dad on all of this making sure he will ring ect should your daughter need you

7 tell her you love her everystep of the way

8 good luck and hope all goes well for you and her xx
