My favorite trick is buying a sheet that you love (usually at TJ Maxx) and turning that into a duvet cover - so inexpensive I would also like to note that it is possible to buy furniture that will have a life as your child grows; pick furniture with timeless lines that you can reuse in a guest room, or when a new sibling comes along - babies don't stay little for very long. Can you recommend a great toy that costs less than $10? Please share a link to a photo.

I have two little boys, ages 4 and 2, so saying that they are rough on toys is an understatement! That's why my go-to toys are always wooden. They are more expensive than plastic, but I've found they are definitely worth the investment because they actually last! At 2nd and Strand I wrote about finding a super cute colorful wooden train. A wooden toy for $10? I know, its almost unheard of! This toy caught my eye because its wooden, adorable (it would look cute when it's not played with and just displayed on a shelf!), low price, unisex, and because its also a puzzle! How do you store your child's toys? Please include a link to a photo if you have one.

Kids toys need to be easily accessible; kids should be able to get there toys out when they want them and conversely be responsible for putting them away. I also buy/create storage pieces that I like to look at and that are purposeful additions to the decor of the room. I try to work a kids storage piece into every public room in our home so that we have a place to stash toys out of sight when necessary.
