2 moms with 2 year old triplet boys, sharing our tips, tricks & adventures along the way...

Spring is a winner of Top 25 Moms of Multiples - 2013

Between getting kids dressed, fed and out the door on time mornings can be hectic! What tips do you have for making morning routines easier?

When we have someplace to be first thing in the morning we get right down to business! I avoid anything that could cause a temper tantrum or any other kind of delay. Breakfast is usually just waffles & bananas at the coffee table & I dress them while they eat. I alway dress last just in case anyone decides to wipe their mouth or spit their milk on me. I pack the diaper bag the night before & have sippy cups & snacks ready to go if needed.

People often say twins and other multiples have an extra special bond. Has there ever been a time when you noticed an especially unique connection?

All 3 of our boys have a special bond. They speak their own language & negotiate well among themselves. They are also very tuned into each others feelings & needs. If one of them is feeling under the weather, there is usually someone by his side until he is feeling better.

What are your tips for celebrating joint birthday parties?

Don't set your expectations for cooperation too high & let the guest present their gift to the kids. With our boys first birthday we sat with the boys & opened gift after gift for what seemed like hours with all of our guests watching. Having them give the gift & help the kids open them would be a little less daunting. And don't panic if the kids don't want to do what you have planned. As long as they are having a good time go with it. Our boys did not want to slow down for anything during their second birthday party. I paniced thinking everyone wanted to see them eat cake & open gifts & as I apologized to people as they left, they were not worried about it at all! Openng them later in the day worked out because the boys could play with what was just opened for a little bit before moving on to the next gift & seriously, the boxes were the main attraction for our 2 year old trio & their cousins!
