What's the single best decision about money you've made?
Honestly, the best single decision that I've made about money was starting my blog, Alicia's Deals. I've always loved a bargain, but when I started paying really close attention to prices, I was amazed at how much I was saving. I figured out that I spend less than half of what I did pre-Alicia's Deals just being keenly aware of how much things should cost. I was pretty frugal before, now I actually feel like our family does more spending less! The great deals I find for the blog help my family (and my readers) "live life better for less".
Does your child receive an allowance? If so, how much? (Please share how old your child is.)
Our children are 7 and 5 and don't receive an allowance yet. They can earn a little bit of money doing extra jobs around the house, which they often put in the bank. As they get older and have more of a need for spending money, we'll consider an allowance.
What's an easy way moms can trim their family food budget?
I am a big believer in eating fresh food. Sticking with in-season produce will taste better and cost a lot less. Check those grocery ads! If you can build meals around meats and veggies that are on sale, you'll save A TON! Check with your favorite store about their savings programs and policies. Safeway just started a "Just 4 U" program that can help you save quite a bit on things you're already buying. Fry's has special "online" coupons that you can load directly to your savings card. Many stores offer double coupons or make all manufacturers' coupons worth at least $1. It pays to know!
