Can you suggest a fun birthday party game or creative activity for 6-8 year-olds?

For my daughter's 8th birthday we had a recycled art party. Each guest was encouraged to bring a bag of items they would have otherwise throw away. The bulk of the party was spent with the kids creating what ever they could out of boxes, egg cartons, papers and all sorts of other goodies & each went home with a work of art. It was a huge hit & the kids had a fantastic time.
