Of all the parties you've thrown, which was your favorite?

My favorite party I've thrown so far has to be the Trash Bash I threw for my 3 year old son, this past January! He loves trash trucks, or should I say he's obsessed with Trash Trucks!! I collected trash items {newspaper, toilet paper rolls, yogurt and milk containers} for about 2 months, washed and cleaned everything and used it all as part of the party decor. I recently posted about the party on my blog, but it's been featured elsewhere. Here's the link: http://www.bellagreydesigns.com/2012/06/things-to-share-with-you-and-real-party.html The kids had so much fun, it was great to watch them!

What's a great tip for keeping a party affordable?

It's always amazing at what you can find at home to make the party come to life. You already know what serving dishes or vases you have, but what about your mom, sister and friends? You'll never know what you'll find if you ask and you may be able to put together a great party with out spending a lot on it.

What are some unique ideas for party favors?

I usually don't like to give out a lot of trinkets so, I opt for a themed homemade and decorated cookie; a craft they started at the party and can finish at home. For the Trash Bash, I gave out small toy trash trucks with about 3 pieces of candy; for a picnic party we threw we sent the kids home with mini picnic baskets filled with candy kisses along with an ant shaped cookie, You have to try to get creative, because most parents don't like the trinkets coming home with the kids any more than you like giving them out. On the same hand, I don't really like to send home a lot of sugar either. Coloring pages and crayons, small crafts, deck of cards, something along those lines are great.

How do you celebrate New Year's Eve with young children?

Jennifer Kirlin

We love to have our kids get in on the New Year's Eve fun, without staying up much past their bedtime. We usually get dressed up, like we're going to a party, and create a mini dessert and snack table with fun beverages like a sparkling punch and ginger ale. We get out games and listen to dance music, then we do our own count down. When we get down to "midnight" we blow horns and pop balloons!! The kids have so much fun. After we all change into our PJs, we read the kids a new book to start off the new year and off to bed they go!
