How long have you been a teacher?
I was a teacher for almost 14 years. I taught grades one, two and three as well as pre-kindergarten. Seven of my 14 years were spent in first grade.
What are three of your favorite books for children? (Please share what age they are best for.)
The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Pinkwater, Sweet Dream Pie by Audrey Wood and Purple, Green and Yellow by Robert Munsch.
What can parents do to help when their child doesn't like school?
Talk to your child. Often the reason a young child says they do not like school is because one isolated thing happened that has thrown them off- someone said something unkind, their lunchbox won't open easily or they have to change their shoes for PE. If this is the case, usually a simple conversation can help. If it is a bigger issue, talk to the the teacher and perhaps she can offer some insights. After a parent has all the facts from the student and the teacher, they can all work together to make the school experience more positive.

I love the way Indian Corn looks and the way people use it to decorate their homes during Thanksgiving time. We are currently living in Australia where Indian Corn is not available, so we made our own!
