In what way is the South unique from other places you've lived or traveled?
In a word, it's FRIENDLY. I grew up and live in a small town - okay, it's not even a town, it's a community - where everybody knows everybody. To some people, that might be a negative thing because it's true that folks are all up in your business, but it has its positive aspects too. If you have a sickness or a tragedy, our community will come together and take care of your meals, your kids, your chores at home... whatever needs to be done. Southern hospitality is real, at least in my experience. This blog contest was a good example. When I told my friends and family that I was in a contest, they started voting and spreading the word like crazy. They became voting MACHINES! People I hardly even knew would see me and tell me they voted. I felt like I was on "American Idol"!
