Capri + 3, Multiple Babies = Multiple Blessings

We went from struggling to start our family to being blessed with four. Now that they are two, their personalities are starting to shine. They smile together, laugh together and tantrum together!

Between getting kids dressed, fed and out the door on time mornings can be hectic! What tips do you have for making morning routines easier?

When we are on a tight schedule, we will bring our four 2 1/2 year old toddlers a non-messy breakfast in bed. That way, we can get one or two dressed while the others are eating breakfast. They love the novelty of it and it makes life easier.

People often say twins and other multiples have an extra special bond. Has there ever been a time when you noticed an especially unique connection?

When any one of our little ones falls down and cries, the others rush over and ask, "are you OK?" and give the injured one hugs. They also speak at times in their own language which they seem to understand. To me, it sounds a lot like "oi-dja goi-dja goi-dja" but to them, there is special meaning. It reminds me a little of the old Peanuts cartoon where children hear adults saying "wa wa, wa wa wa, wa wa." I wonder if we sound like that to them.

What are your tips for celebrating joint birthday parties?

We have had two birthday parties so far (since they are now 2 1/2). We chose themes that all four were interested in at the time. The first one was a Goodnight Moon party because we read that book every night at bedtime and they all enjoyed it. The second birthday party was an Elmo theme because he was their first 'celebrity crush.' They could not say very many words, but they could all say "Elmo" with reverence. If they continue to have group interests, those will be the themes of the parties. If they start to differ, we can get creative and do combined themes.

What's a great finger food that your kids love? Please include a link.

Capri + 3--Theresa

We have four 19-month old babies. They have not quite mastered the fork and spoon yet, so finger foods are great. This is especially true for foods that are hard for them to eat with silverware, like spaghetti. So, one day I tried putting the chopped spaghetti in between slices of bread and toasting it in a sandwich maker. It was a hit! Spaghetti sandwiches will be a fun treat in the future too, even when they have mastered silverware. http://www.multiples-mom.com/2012/04/spaghetti-sandwiches.html

We have four toddlers who turned two in November. Our little girl is on the road to being potty trained and our boys are just starting to show a little bit of interest. I am looking forward to having all four potty trained in 2013 and waving goodbye to diapers.

Does your family have a special St. Patrick's Day tradition? Please also include a link to a photo, if you have one.

Capri + 3--Theresa

We just started a new tradition this year that we will do as long as our little ones take baths. We added green food coloring, laminated shamrock stickers, green foam shapes and containers to collect the green water and treasures. They had so much fun collecting shamrocks and putting the green water into the cups and Tupperware containers.

What's your favorite toddler bedtime book?

Capri + 3--Theresa

Our little ones enjoy Goodnight Moon. They also love a book of classic nursery rhymes, many of which are songs, such as 'down by the station' and 'shoo fly.' We sing parts of the song and pause so they will sing the words we leave out. It is a lot of fun.

Can you suggest a fun summer activity like berry picking that helps kids learn where food comes from? Please link to a picture we can use if you have one.

We took our little ones to a local farm to pick kale. Then we made kale chips which they loved. Since then, we have planted our own so we can make kale chips whenever we want to and they know right where they come from.
