Of all the DIY projects you've done, which was your favorite?

I love DIY projects. It is a great way to save money & to create something in your home that gives you a sense of pride & accomplishment. Of all the DIY projects I have done, The Barn Board Ikea Hacked Coffee Table is my favorite. It was actually very easy and took me about 2 hours total. Here is the link, http://cityfarmhouse.com/2013/02/ikea-hacked-barnboard-coffee-table.html. It really completed the room & gave the rustic element I was looking for.

What's your advice for moms who want to decorate their home on a budget?

I have been decorating on a budget since I was in college. I enjoy it, even when our decorating budget allows for more flexibility, I still have that desire to stay creative & keep it low. My advice for anyone decorating on a budget is to take your time, discover your style and stay true to it, shop thrift stores, garage sales & outlet stores, re-use what you have and get to know paint, it will become your best friend. Buy things that can be recovered easily for a big impact & buy anything with good lines because paint can transform anything. Creating something from nothing will get you lots of kudos from family & friends and will make you feel so connected to your home at the same time.

Where do you find inspiration for keeping your home stylish?

I find inspiration everywhere, from magazines, pintrest, my favorite local shops from color palettes in nature. I rely on my instincts & buy things that I love, while trying to keep following trends to a minimum.
