In what ways is your home town unique from other places you've lived or traveled?
My home town is probably the least exciting, the least picturesque and the least noteworthy of all the places I've lived... and yet its home! It's where my family are, the home of my childhood memories, and the place in which I have friends who have been with us through thick and thin. I'm learning that home isn't a location as much as it is just belonging. And right now? We belong here in this little suburb!
What do your kids love most about living in the European Union?
We travel a fair amount. I spent time living in Austria, and my husband is half Norwegian, so our girls are already seasoned travelers, despite their ages. It's wonderful that you can hop on a plane, or a train, or a ferry and be in another country in just over an hour!
The European Union is also a wonderful place to live as a multilingual family; there are so many opportunities for our girls to learn about language, and we're geographically "close" to all three of the languages they speak. There aren't many places in the world where so many totally different languages are so packed into such a comparatively small space!
What outdoor activity do you enjoy doing most with your kids?
We love all sorts; walking, puddle-splashing, playground trips, nature trails, pick-your-own farms, being in the garden, paddling in the Norwegian fjords, visiting animal farms... anything and everything! I love cycling, so I'm looking forward to bike rides with the girls when they're big enough!
