What's your favorite kid-friendly app?

Scribble Press. Combine this app with an iPad and a stylus and your budding Jeff Kinney can go to town! Your kiddo can create an eBook with his or her own drawings and writing. They can also plug in photos and (in app) purchase sets of clip art. Once they are done with their masterpiece, they can share it to the public Scribble Press gallery (after complying with strict yet appropriate privacy guidelines) or you can order an actual paper copy of the book! If they get stuck and need a little inspiration to get them going, share Peter Reynold's book, "The Dot" with them. They will be creating in no time!

What tips would you give a mom who wants to become more tech savvy?

Read my blog! Ha! Actually it is a great place to start. I work with the assumption that the reader has no tech background so every post is accessible and super user-friendly. I am also available to answer questions via comments on my blog, Facebook or Twitter.

My number one piece of advice to people who are stuck is to go to your favorite search engine and simply type in your question in plain English. For example, "How do I upload a video to YouTube?" Chances are someone else has had the same question and some wonderful person has taken the time to answer it. Pinterest and YouTube are also tremendous resources for tutorials.

What's the most innovative gadget for children you've seen?

I am a huge Apple fan so it is hard for me to think of something that tops the iPad. I see the multitude of ways that my children use them in school and at home and I am simply blown away. I recently bought them both styluses to use with my iPad. My little one never liked studying for his spelling tests. Hand him my iPad with a sketching program (like Doodle Buddy, that HE told me about because he had used it at school) and his stylus and suddenly writing out those spelling words is a whole lot more fun!
