What's the most creative dessert idea you've come up with for a party? Please share a link if you have one.
For my daughter's most recent birthday party, I was running out of time and knew I wouldn't be able to bake her cake. I am known for making her cakes & cupcakes....and most of the desserts...so, I knew how I wanted it to look but didn't want to pay a lot of money for a bakery to do a fancy cake. So, I went to my grocery store bakery, ordered a diner cake with plain white frosting. I used rock candy, fondant toppers and sugar sheets from my own supply to decorate her cake. It took me less than 20 minutes to decorate the cake and it was delicious. http://cupcakewishesandbirthdaydreams.blogspot.com/2013/05/party-recap-monster-high-spa-party.html
What's a cool DIY project you would recommend for party decorations?
I can't think of one particular DIY project, but a little glitter and paint can go a long way if you can't find what you want. You can easily make the most mundane object and make it fabulous with a sprinkle of glitter or the right paint color. You can glitter or paint a frame, wooden utensils, plastic animals, gift boxes.....just be creative and imaginative. There are so many good ideas and resources available that the possibilities are practically limitless.
What are some of your favorite kid-friendly party snacks that are healthy too?
Anything on a stick. My kids love kabobs. So, I can get them to eat fruit kabobs like no one's business.....top them with a little marshmallow goodness and they're happy campers!

I made a Bubblegum machine cake for my daughter's 6th birthday last year. The bottom cake was bubblegum flavor and the 'machine' part of the cake was plain vanilla. I filled a fish bowl with real gumballs and used it as the topper for the cake. A fondant lid lifted off the cake for guests to grab their own gumballs. It took me about 4 days to make because I had to make everything in stages, but it was such a hit at the party. I also made bubble gum flavored cupcakes and gumball cake pops!
