What advice would you give to a mom who wants to start couponing?

My advice for a mom who is wanting to start out using coupon is to go at a slow pace, and educate yourself first. So many people jump into coupons not really knowing a whole lot about them. My #1 advice would be to educate, educate, educate yourself on them. Learn how to read them, use them, store policies. Learn the ropes, learn everything so that when you walk into the store for the first time you will know what you are doing. Learn your store policies because each one will be different. Start with getting at least 2 newspapers, grab yourself an organization system, and organize your coupons. Also instead of making a grocery list of what you, want make a list of things that are on sale and on sale only. See if you are buying items on sale each week you are saving money even if you aren't using coupons. Then you need to start making your weekly meals off what is on sale, for instance if pork is on sale then make meals with pork that week. Each week your menu will be different, never the same. Once you have your list you can now shop and buy whats on sale. Stock up to because if that items is at a great price then buy 2 or 3 of them. That way in 2wks when you need that item you can pull it from your stockpile instead of heading to the grocery store and paying full price. These are just some great tips, I have a lot more but I would focus on educating yourself, and knowing your stores. You will get better at it each time you go, and you will see your savings expanding. Then you will get addicted and realize you were crazy for not starting earlier.

How much do you save yearly using coupons?

My biggest savings with coupons was last year 2012 when I saved over $70,000. I saved so much I was able to purchase my 2 Honda car brand new with the savings I earned. Using coupons has helped my family out so much that I probably would still be broke living off $20 every 2 weeks if I didn't use them. This year I have been able to live off my stockpile so I haven't really used them a whole lot which is a nice break for me. So far I have saved $10,000 in just 4 short months.

What is the best resource you've found for finding coupons?

The best resource I have found for looking for coupons is honestly the Sunday newspaper. That is where I get 90% of my coupons, and I usually pick up anywhere from 6 to 10 papers a Sunday. It just depends on what type coupons are coming out that week. If I don't get my coupons from the Sunday paper I will get them from Coupons.com which is a free printable website. You can hop on there and print out all kinds of coupons for free, 2 prints per computer.
