What's the best part of raising a family in Australia?
Living on the Gold Coast, it’s all about the sun, sea and sand! It’s a fabulous place to raise our family. We have the fortune of being able to stroll to a variety of gorgeous, well-kept gardens and parks, and there is a huge variety of amazing facilities and programs to engage and educate kids while also having lots of fun! I feel very lucky to be able to raise my young family here.
In what ways is Australia unique from other places you've lived or traveled?
I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world and even enjoyed living in the UK for a couple of years with my family while aged in my teens. So I have seen, and experienced, a variety of different towns, cities and cultures.
The down to earth, laid back nature of Australians, our coastal/outdoors lifestyle and access to fabulous resources make Australia unique. Sure, every country has areas it can improve on, but compared to other counties, I’m very happy with the health care services and education services available and feel confident in the country’s future – for the benefit of my children. Opportunities are endless and I believe anyone can achieve anything in life that they desire.
Another example of Australia’s ‘unique-ness’ is the Christmas holiday season which, for us, is not all about roasting chestnuts on an open fire and making snowmen, but about having a BBQ at the beach with friends and family, while enjoying the warm weather, swimming at the beach or in the backyard pool, toddlers running around under the sprinkler, or fun games of backyard cricket.
I feel very lucky to live here and enjoy the lifestyle we’re able to enjoy.
What do your kids love most about living in Australia?
My kids are only toddlers but from what I can tell, they enjoy having the freedom to be able to enjoy a great outdoors lifestyle – whether it’s running around under the sprinkler in spring/summer (and autumn), planting flowers in the garden, hanging out at the beach making sandcastles, and catching up with friends at the various parks for play dates.
Living on the Gold Coast, we can pop down to our local library for sing-a-long nursery rhyme sessions, attend various organised events and play groups, and visit the gorgeous parks and beaches that are all well-maintained. There’s a lot to enjoy!
