What's the most creative dessert idea you've come up with for a party? Please share a link if you have one.
That is a tough question because I try to push myself with every party and really come up with creative food ideas. A few that I love include "Mickey Mouse Moon Pies" with chocolate melts for ears, Cinnamon Roll Cake pops for a Bun in the Oven baby shower, and donut skewers with pink playing cards for a Pink Casino party.
What's a cool DIY project you would recommend for party decorations?
There are so many things that you can DIY for parties. My signature party decor for the parties for my own little boys is a large hanging in my foyer. I usually make these out of large pieces of cardboard or science fair backdrops. I love having a big impact piece right when guests walk in the door.
Anyone can cut a big number out of cardboard using an Xacto knife!
Garlands can also be made of anything! I even made a garland out of taco shells for a fiesta party! It cost $5 at the most! Try to push yourself out of the box and look at normal, everyday things to make into party decor!
What are some of your favorite kid-friendly party snacks that are healthy too?
One of my favorite things to serve at kid's parties is skewers of fruit. In addition to looking beautiful, they are also healthy and adaptable to almost any party theme. A couple of my favorite adaptations of fruit skewers were my Hungry Caterpillar skewers in 2009 with green grapes and a red strawberry on top and the stoplight skewers with pineapple, strawberries, and grapes last year at a Planes, Trains, and Automobiles party.
That being said, I am all about eating junk food for birthdays. It's one day a year and if you can't have fun food then, when can you have it?
