How did your decorating style change when you became a mom?

My style did not change. What changed is how to obtain it. That is why I love thrifting for accessories.

What's your advice on creating a beautiful family space that works for both kids and adults?

It's important to have enough seating and that it be comfortable. Invest in good quality furniture pieces. Keep the colors neutral. Add task lighting, durable rug, end tables, a small round table and chairs for games and drawing, bookshelves (add baskets for storage), ottoman or chest to store blankets,games, and great family pictures.

How would you decorate a child's room on a budget?

Start with a plan. If you're talking small budget, shop consignment shops, thrift stores, and antique shops for furniture you could paint or refinish. Use eco-friendly paint and real woods. Don't forget to checkout garage sales and keep your ear open for friends that are redecorating. HomeGoods is great for accessories, bedding. Let's not forget Ikea. Lastly, show of your beautiful child and their art work in picture frames.
