In what ways is SoCal unique from other places you've lived or traveled?
For the most part, I have lived in Orange County my entire life. There was college in the Central Coast and a couple years in the Bay Area after college, but I always knew I would end up back in Orange County. What makes So Cal so unique to me is that there are very few places you can live that provide access to big cities, beaches, mountains, the desert, museums, culture and of course, great weather. I feel extremely fortunate to have so much at our families finger tips. We are lucky and I know that.
What's the biggest misconception about living in Southern California?
We are NOT what the Real Housewives of Orange County portray! Thanks to this show and many others than came before them, a perception of Orange County has been created that just isn't true.
What's your favorite affordable outdoor activity to do with your kids?
Without a doubt it is going to the beach. NOTHING beats spending the day there with my hubby and our three children. NOTHING.

What's your favorite beach for families in SoCal?
My absolute favorite beach in SoCal is Salt Creek Beach in Laguna Niguel. It is a gorgeous beach and not one that many tourists go to like Laguna, Newport or Corona del Mar. It is tucked away right below the Ritz Carlton which gives it a beautiful view both towards the water and behind you. I have been going there since I was a little girl and continue to visit each summer with my family.

What is the best place to raise children: city, suburbs, or a rural town?
This may not be answering the question appropriately but I think that there is no right answer to this. Because I was raised (and am currently raising my children) in the suburbs, I dream about the excitment and culture a city has to offer children. Museums, historical locations and diversity is what help to make individuals well rounded. On the flipside, I love the comfort and safety you get in the suburbs. Everyone knows everyone and there is a stronger sense of community. I personally think that each family needs to discover what works best for them. Our plan? We live in the suburbs but take our children on trips to big cities all around the country so they are exposed to more than what our small community can offer.
