In what ways is Northern California unique from other places you've lived or traveled?
Anyone who has been lucky enough to visit or live in Northern California knows that it’s unique because it just simply has got it all! From oceans to bays, sand dunes to redwood groves and from snowy to sunny days -all within just miles of one another- Northern California’s got the most of it! It’s its own special “country” where its inhabitants and visitors thoroughly enjoy the plentitude and variety this special part of the state has to offer throughout the year. Locals can enjoy their vacations near home; they seem to have invented and perfected the art of the “stay-cation”! And tourists make themselves at home while traveling this glorious part of the state by driving up and down Highway 101 and exploring the splendid views, stopping to camp, shop, and relax.
What outdoor activity do you enjoy doing most with your kids?
We at Kid Friendly SF are a family of beach lovers! We love the sand, waves, sounds and sights of the ocean. Hours melt away as we sit and play on beaches up and down the coast near our hometown of San Francisco. We can be found “beaching it” south of San Francisco along Highway One near Half Moon Bay and Pacifica as well as in Marin at Muir Beach and Stinson Beach. Yet the beach that holds the sweetest spot in our hearts is the one with the breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge… San Francisco’s very own Baker Beach.
What's a great Northern California destination for a family vacation?
Well we wouldn’t be Kid Friendly San Francisco if we didn’t say San Francisco, would we?! San Francisco’s a world class city with a small town feel; full of natural park settings and gorgeous hills to climb take in wonderful views. It’s one of the best walking cities in the world! And when you find yourself out of steam while climbing up that steep SF hill- simply hop up on a famous cable car to continue your tour in true SF style. Discover fabulous treasures around every corner; from newly rebuilt playgrounds to fantastic restaurants to dine with the family. Shop Union Square for the big picture or stroll San Francisco’s unique and charming neighborhoods to score the hippest threads and cutest trinkets.
From the ocean to the bay, our hearts are right here in San Francisco and we know that yours will be too!
