Life lands on the kitchen counter...and I share everything that lands on our kitchen counter. My 2 young daughters and I are busy baking, cooking, gardening and growing our own food. We love sharing our adventures with our readers.

What's one of the first recipes you taught your kids to make?

What's a delicious no cook recipe?

What's a great breakfast for a special occasion?

What is your best tip for keeping the bathroom clean?

Jen Farr

Keep cleaning supplies in the bathroom. If I have to go searching for the supplies then I won't clean as often. Also, wipe out the sink every night while the kids are in the bath. I like to take advantage of the time I am in the bathroom hanging out while they bathe. Multitasking is a mom's best talent. Find out how to make your own simple cleaning supplies on my blog Kitchen Counter Chronicles.

How do you keep your children's rooms organized and clean?

Jen Farr

Keeping my kids rooms organized really all comes down to their different personalities. My eldest daughter likes a clean bedroom, which means that she uses her bookshelves for books, her desk for her art supplies and her dresser for her clothing. My younger daughter lives in chaos. This means that her stuffies are everywhere, her books are piled on the floor and her bed is never made. We do a once a week "clean-up" and other than that I am learning to close the door. The reality is that I want my children to think of there rooms as safe and comfortable spaces. If that means one is a mess and one is neat, then I am willing to live with that.

What's your family's favorite recipe for chicken or tofu?

Jen Farr

My family loves chicken in any way shape or form! However, they really like my chicken strips. We use chicken breasts to make them extra tender and delicious. We only make dinners that everyone can enjoy, and these fit the bill. My favourite part is the hint of orange in the panko crust! Seriously yummy for little and big kids.

What are your tips for throwing a party that both adults and kids will enjoy?

Jen Farr

Is it wrong to say alcohol? Kidding! It's important to think of the ages of the kids attending. Adults are pretty easy to please - food and drinks. Kids are pretty to please too, if you have activities and appropriate food. When I have the whole family over no matter what we are eating for dinner I always bake up macaroni and cheese for the kids. Bring out the bucket of LEGO, colouring pages and crayons, dolls, whatever toys that promote group play. If the kids are older, set them up with a movie and fruit kabobs! Take the time to think of everyone who is coming to your party and it will be a huge success.
