Dixie has written a humor column in a local newspaper for the past 16 years about family life parenting three children, one with special needs. She is published in "Chicken Soup for the Soul Celebrates Teachers" and blogs about family life.

What tips would you give a mom who wants to write a book?

How do you balance writing and motherhood?

Where do you find writing inspiration?

Do you try to give back when you declutter? Please share your family traditions for benefitting others.

I try never to throw anything that someone else could use away. When I'm out running errands I also include used books which are dropped off at our loca library, used clothes and household items to re-sale shops of Goodwill. These are things than can be put to good use by someone else. Our church has a prayer quilt ministry which I participate in so leftover fabic gets made up into a scrappy quilt top to be made in a quilt for the sick and dying in our parish. Nothing goes to waste.
