How do you celebrate New Year's Eve with young children?

Last year, I planned a New Year's Eve party during the day. We usually keep things pretty kid-friendly anyways. We had CapriSuns for the kids to drink, out of plastic champagne glasses :) Countdown cupcakes with marshmallows to look like the ball at Time's Square. Donut holes were 'bubbles' etc.What are your tips for planning an affordable birthday party?

If you have a budget, pick one or two elements to 'splurge' on..like the cake, favors or a bounce house. I try to keep things simple by using solid color plates/utensils/cups..instead of the 'themed' ones. It's always cheaper & it's going in the garbage anyway.What's a great toy for outdoor play that costs less than $15? Please share a photo or link if you have one.

My kids LOVE spongeballs. They are made from sponges found at Dollar Tree. You can make 3 sponges per pack - so they are very affordable! Dunk them in water and you've got the perfect Summer toy!|
