What do you think are the greatest advantages of homeschooling?
The children learn so much better, because we are able to tailor their education to how they learn best, they are better socialized and have phenomenal conversations even with adults. Not having the outside influences of school kids helps children have a sense of accomplishment and confidence that is amazing. We are graduating our first high schooler this year. She will be testing out of the first 2 years of college and getting her bachelors degree for less the $20,000!! Reducing post gradate debt is huge for these kids just starting out. Not something public schools provide information about!
What advice would you give to a mom who is considering homeschooling her child?
YOU can do it!! Making the leap to pull your kids out of public schools or just start them out homeschooling can be a difficult one. Do what you think is right, you will figure it out and your child will learn just fine. Even if you don't have a degree in teaching. My Homeschool page on the blog http://mamaofmanyblessings.com/homeschooling-resources/ has many resources I have shared over the years.
What's one homeschooling challenge you've faced, and what solutions did you find?
Learning to let go and not expect kids to learn things when I want them to, but instead follow the lead of the child. Once I did this the results have simply been amazing. The kids do not learn to hate learning, but to love it instead!
