What's one of the first recipes you taught your kids to make?

Our family love to enjoy occasional sweet treats. One of the recipes that I made very successfully with my little ones are these perfectly Spiced Molasses Cookies which we made over the holidays. They lent Mommy an extra hand in making the dough balls and then helped roll them into sugar for some extra sweet coating. We had such a fabulous time making it. Here's the recipe if you wish to check it out. It’s a recipe that kids can truly enjoy participating in.

What's a delicious no cook recipe?

Avocado Shake or Smoothie. My mom made this all the time while I was growing up in the Philippines where Avocados abound. It is still my favorite beverage to date. I am passing on this very quick and easy recipe to my kids who love it, too. Simply take 1-2 avocados, add some milk, a few crushed ice and your favorite sweetener and then process them in a blender and you’ll have the thickest and creamiest smoothie or what we call “Avocado Shake” in the Philippines.

What's a great breakfast for a special occasion?

We love to serve Champorado (Filipino Chocolate Rice Porridge) for a special breakfast. Champorado is a classic Filipino breakfast made of sticky or glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk and flavored with a little sugar and cocoa powder. It is such a versatile dish that you can even turn it into a dessert by serving it with some chocolate chips on top and a dollop of Vanilla ice cream, too.

Some members of the family cannot tolerate wheat so this Gluten-free Tuna Pasta Salad is a staple because everyone loves this including those of us without the allergy. All you need is canned tuna, corn pasta, tomatoes (fresh or sun-dried), salt and pepper and any fresh herb you may have available. So easy and quite tasty too.
