The Ultimate Kids Events Round-Up In Marin And Beyond.

Ronnie is a winner of Top 25 NorCal Moms - 2013

What's the best part of raising a family in NorCal?

I created "Ronnie's Awesome List" because I am so inspired by the wide variety of amazing activities there is every month and I want to share it. So, I set out to create the Ultimate Kids Round-Up in Marin and Beyond and I hope you agree. Many events are free or very inexpensive. Additionally, access to good nutritious organic foods, healthy active outdoor lifestyle, the creative and inventive people, family friendly, and supportive communities. You have the mountains, the ocean, amazing flora and fauna and in the summers you can hug a cloud. It's my Shangri-La and I am so happy raising my family here.

What's the biggest misconception about living in NorCal?

A few years ago I had family from Yorkshire, England drive from Southern California through foggy Big Sur to visit us in cool Marin in the summer. They soon realized this is not the sunny California summer dream vacation they envisioned. It was warmer in England. The summers here can be really cold and the ocean is colder. People think because we can have awesome temperatures in Northern California during the year, that it doesn't get cold, and that we're swimming and surfing all day long. The the water of the Pacific Ocean is quite chilly because it comes down from Alaska (brrr!) But in return we have nutrient-rich waters attracting many fish, marine mammals, and birds. I am happy to put on a jacket for the thrill of seeing whales breach, dolphins jump and the best tide pools ever.

What do your kids love most about living in NorCal?

Camping at Julia Pfiffer State Park, Mount Tamalpias, dolphin, seal and otter watching, wild flowers, banana slugs, tule elk at Tomales Point, tide pools, farmers markets, the Paleontology Department at UC Berkeley.
