The daily blessings and heartaches of a large family made up of yours, mine and ours. Adoption talk and special needs children are a frequent blog topic on the blog. Always transparent and always real.

What has having a big family taught you about motherhood?

That being a mother is hard work. All mothers think that they fail sometimes and we are our biggest critics. We should support one another much more!

What tips do you have for meal planning?

Meals don't have to be so something fancy and sandwiches can be made a lot of different ways. Panini makers are the best. If you do cook a big meal double it so there will be leftovers or a freezer meal for later.

How do you get your children involved with chores? Please share what age these tips are appropriate for.

Chore chart! Everyone cleans a room each day and is responsible for that area of the house. Team work!

How do you balance your daily routine with kids and exercise?

Sarah Reese

With a large family and many small children, this can be tricky! Our local gym has unlimited child care for a low price during certain hours so this is always an option. However, I have found that I like to include my children in my workouts whenever possible. This summer we have been not only exercising as a family, but doing our local errands on foot! We load up our Bob stroller with children (sometimes three kids in the duallie) and head down to the post office, bank, grocery store for fresh fruit for a snack, go to the park, play in the water fountain in our towns center, and enjoy several hours out and about. Pushing the heavy stroller full of children up hills and around town gives me a great workout!
