What's the best part of raising a family in the South?

1. When I lived in Michigan and Nebraska I didn't get to experience such diversity/culture as I have in Texas. Here we can raise our family soaking it all in.You're surrounded by it everyday not only through the people but by the variety of food, art, stores, and music. We have the perk of living in a city that puts on events. Rodeos,"LET'S RODEO SAN ANTONIO!" There's fiestas that not only gives you a feel for the Hispanic culture, but a taste of New Orleans and other coastal regions. There's also October fests that takes place through out different times in the fall that get you in to the German Spirit. PROST! I lived in Germany for about two years and these fests really made me feel like I was back there. Serving up memories so freshly.
And let's not forget we live in the city of the Spurs."GO SPURS GO!" =D

What's the biggest misconception about living in the South?

I live in San Antonio, TX.
I've been asked numerous times about cowboys, horses, cactus's, wagons, tumbleweeds, etc. There are actually a few cities that do have cowboys riding up to stores and restaurants on their milk white steeds, pintos, black beauty horses latching them on to post. Among them are cowboys and non~cowboys that prefer to use their vehicle. Bandera, the closest city to me, does have this. Especially when they host their rodeo. However, I am not riding around on a horse, with a cowboy hat on, lassoing my child. =P As much as that sounds like fun, no unfortunately.

What do your kids love most about living in the South?

My daughter is 15 months old and my oldest baby is 28 =P They both love doing outside activities. If I'm deciphering my daughter's babbling right, she likes playing with her ball and running around with others at the park when it's not so hot. And as long as she has her water with her. Hahaha Eight months out of the year it's decent enough to go for a swim. We are surrounded by many lakes and rivers if we don't want to be at the pool.Plus, we can be in our dreamy vacation at the coast within a few hours. Tons of beaches to choose from.
