In what ways is Northern California unique from other places you've lived or traveled?

There are so many amazing and different things to see in Northern California, and they are all a short car ride away! You can spend all day in the city, exploring the numerous different neighborhoods that all offer something unique. Then drive 20 minutes over the Golden Gate Bridge and be surrounded by rolling hills, cliffs and the most beautiful views I have seen in my life. Living in Norther California allows my husband and I to take our son on amazing day trips and be back home in time for our little guy to still get to bed early! Since I do write about food, I have to mention all of the amazing fresh and local produce that is available year round. The farmer's markets in the Bay Area are the best and most lush I have ever seen!

What outdoor activity do you enjoy doing most with your kids?

We love going to all the amazing parks in San Francisco. Our son loves to run around, so we spend the majority of our days chasing after him in the cities beautiful parks! One of our favorite (and free for SF residents) activities is to explore and picnic at the SF Botanical Gardens.

What's a great Northern California destination for a family vacation?

San Francisco is an amazing place to visit and is super family friendly. There are so many fun things to do from exploring the many diverse neighborhoods, to visiting the many kid friendly museums all over the city. San Francisco is also so close to many other day trip destinations like wine country, Marin Headlands, Point Reyes, Muir Woods, Halfmoon Bay, Monterey, Santa Cruz and many others!

What's your go-to snack for your kids?

Lauren Spurchise

Blueberries or raspberries. My son would eat them all day if he could! Berries are full of so many essential vitamins and minerals for our little ones, and are super easy to transport. I've thrown them in a snack cup, bag, or carried the entire package around in my diaper bag. They're a great snack for us mommies too :)
