my decorating style didn't change when i became a mom. or at least it didn't change BECAUSE i became a mom. if anything, becoming a mom meant i stayed at home, which meant i was internet bound for most of the day, which meant i was looking at design all day which meant my tastes became more refined.
wipeable surfaces and slipcovers. there are really beautiful options out there, so don't think you can't have nice things just because you have little ones.
haha!! i AM decorating a child's room on a budget and it's actually not hard at all.
start with a plan. shop craigslist or ebay for a nice antique chest of drawers that you can refinish or paint, you can also find good lighting and a great chair that you can reupholster. and the box stores like land of nod and pottery barn have great sales all the time for bedding.
