What's your best tip for teaching a gradeschooler about money?

While it is important to teach our children how to shop and how to save, it is just as important to teach our children the importance of charity. We have shown all 4 of our kids that first 10% needs to go church offerings. Also important is to give to those less fortunate then us. My proudest mommy moment was when a few months ago we were walking into the Polish version of Target and there was a women begging for money and food. I usually get a little treat for the girls when we are done shopping but this time they asked if they could get something for the lady instead. I about started crying in the store, as my girls are only 5 & 7 years old. So off we went to find some bread and juice for her. When we gave the food to her it brought tears to her eyes as well as ours. We walked away and the girls turned around and she was quickly eating the food. Hopefully this lesson they will carry for a lifetime that there is more to life then just money!

For our 3rd child we mailed baby shoes to each of the grandparents. We lived in Illinois and they lived in North Dakota and Washington so this was so much more fun than a phone call!
