In what ways is your home town unique from other places you've lived or traveled?

Growing up in a small town in North Dakota, nothing can compare to it! It is where I have eaten some of the best meals that cannot be compared to anywhere in the world. I would hang out with my friends and play sports, play games, go to school and just have fun. My home town has my childhood memories and no town will have those special memories.

What do your kids love most about living in the European Union?

According to my kids - my 20 year old loved going up in the EU for 6 years because of the travel and getting to have some of his best friends from all over the EU and learning about their beliefs. My 17 year old loves living the last 8 years in the EU because of the great international friends she has met and learning about things first had that she has only read in books. Now my 2 littlest 8 and 6 don't know any thing different then the EU, so when we do move back to the US they will be in complete culture shock just like my oldest did when he moved back 2 years ago to go to university.

What outdoor activity do you enjoy doing most with your kids?

We love to just walk and walk and walk so more. We love to see where our feet will take us. What interesting alley we will find, what cute hidden ice cream shop or better yet what neat park we will find just off the beaten path.

What's one of the worst messes your child has made? Please share a link to a photo if you have one.

What's your best tip for teaching a gradeschooler about money?

Kelley Kagele

While it is important to teach our children how to shop and how to save, it is just as important to teach our children the importance of charity. We have shown all 4 of our kids that first 10% needs to go church offerings. Also important is to give to those less fortunate then us. My proudest mommy moment was when a few months ago we were walking into the Polish version of Target and there was a women begging for money and food. I usually get a little treat for the girls when we are done shopping but this time they asked if they could get something for the lady instead. I about started crying in the store, as my girls are only 5 & 7 years old. So off we went to find some bread and juice for her. When we gave the food to her it brought tears to her eyes as well as ours. We walked away and the girls turned around and she was quickly eating the food. Hopefully this lesson they will carry for a lifetime that there is more to life then just money!

What's the most unique or fun way to announce a pregnancy that you've seen? Please share a link with a picture if it's relevant.

For our 3rd child we mailed baby shoes to each of the grandparents. We lived in Illinois and they lived in North Dakota and Washington so this was so much more fun than a phone call!

I L-O-V-E my 6 crock-pots! Yes, I do lots of entertaining and they are perfect for doing so. One recipe that we love to make year round is apple butter!
