How do you keep stuffed animals under control? Do you corall them in a net, arrange them on shelves, periodically get rid of the unloved ones? Please include a picture of your solution.

Cindy Young

I created an empty bean bag chair to store most of our stuffed animals in. The favorites are displayed on shelves. The extras are in a canvas bin in the closet.

Does your family have a special tradition for Easter or Passover? Please share a link to a picture along with your response.

Cindy Young

I try to include a handmade gift in my kids' Easter baskets so they will have something to treasure for years to come. I try to choose healthy and natural treats. And I try to avoid buying things like plastic eggs and grass - choosing reused or natural materials instead. This year I'm going to attempt to make felted eggs.

How do you organize the area in your home where your kids do arts and crafts? Please share a link to a picture along with your response.

Cindy Young

My son loves to create arts and crafts! So needless to say, we have way too many art supplies! I repurposed a small bar alcove for storing our art supplies. I filled the cabinets with clear plastic containers of various sizes and separated the art supplies according to type. This could also easily be done in a closet, wardrobe/cabinet or even on bookshelves. I used magazine bins to separate the colored paper and paper scraps. And I used clothespins and twine to create a display system for art work so the pieces are easy to switch around.

What's a great toy for outdoor play that costs less than $15? Please share a photo or link if you have one.

Cindy Young

Rocks! It's no secret that kids love to play with rocks, and my son is no exception. He will spend hours hunting for rocks to add to his collection, stacking rocks into interesting sculptures, and creating art out of rocks. We were locked out of the car one day and he kept himself occupied by putting together the most amazing rock portrait (see the link below)!

What are some fun activities to put on a summer "bucket list" for your kids? Please link to a picture if you have one.

Cindy Young

We love to do nature scavenger hunts. We venture out to all of the different parks in the area and collect items from nature or take photos of them using a scavenger hunt list. This is a great way to explore our state and have fun doing it.

What's your family's favorite book about (or for) kids and dads? Please include a link to the book.

Cindy Young

My son and my husband absolutely love "Darth Vader and Son!" It is the first book that my son actually sat down and read by himself. It is in graphic novel format so little boys (and grown boys) love it.

Can you suggest a fun craft to do with kids that uses things found in nature like pine cones, leaves, flowers, or sticks?

Cindy Young

We love to create backyard terrariums. With every new season, we explore our backyard and create a terrarium using plants, moss, rocks and bugs that we find. http://www.onepartsunshine.com/blog/1442 When my son is bored and has to wait around somewhere, he creates art out of rocks! Rock portraits, sculptures and more.

Can you suggest a fun summer activity like berry picking that helps kids learn where food comes from? Please link to a picture we can use if you have one.

Cindy Young

I started a vegetable garden for my family but tried to make it extra fun for my son. We grew beans and peas up a teepee made of found sticks. I created a sunflower house by planting the seeds in a large circle. And I set up a space where my son could plant whatever he wanted. By the middle of the summer, he had a fun and magical place to play and he learned all about where his food comes from.

We love to visit local swimming holes (in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains), lakes and rivers. But sometimes a bucket full of water and some cups are enough to keep my son busy.
