one of my favorite ways that flowers can be used as an art material is to create natural stained glass for your windows. this classic, simple art-venture involves many of the activities my daughter & i love most: being out in nature, collecting lovely petals and leaves, and melting crayons! just sandwich the flowers and crayons shavings between two sheets of wax paper and iron them together, then enjoy sunlight filtering through the colors. this idea is appropriate and stimulating to many different ages of children. [note that it requires adult participation for ironing.]
