For Thanksgiving dinner, this sweet potato casserole is always a huge hit with everyone in our family. It's sweet like a dessert, but still healthy -- even the pickiest children at the table gobble up their orange veggies when they're prepared this way! The recipe is also perfect for families with food sensitivities -- it is gluten, dairy, and egg-free. http://www.pocketfuls.ca/2010/10/favourite-thanksgiving-treats.html This year for Thanksgiving, I came up with a new pumpkin pie recipe that is simple and delicious (and really cute!). These gluten, dairy, and egg-free treats are made in mini mason jars and topped with whipped coconut cream, cinnamon, and pecans. Yum!

What's a great recipe that uses cranberries?

Lisa Betik

I use dried cranberries and pecans to dress up plain popcorn for a special afternoon snack. It's delicious with a mixture of melted coconut oil, maple syrup, cinnamon and allspice drizzled over top!

What are your family's favorite activities for keeping cool in the heat (indoor or out)? Please share a link to a picture if you have one!

Our family now spends a lot of time keeping cool in the pool we had built in our yard last year, but before that we used to spend many happy summer hours with a $10 sprinkler hose I bought at the grocery store. The kids would run shrieking playfully through the wiggly sprays of water, and they'd fill up pails to douse each other with while my husband and I sat in the shade of a maple tree and laughed at their antics. We'd set the sprinkler up near our swingset, so the kids could swing barefoot in bathing suits and get happily soaked at the same time. When they'd had enough of the water, we'd all enjoy a homemade frosty treat like strawberry orange or banana split freezer pops. My boys are older now and their sprinkler days are behind us, but we all have very fond memories of hot summer afternoons spent this way.
