What's your New Year's Resolution?

Cori Nicholls

My new years resolution for 2012 is to work hard on my running so I can run a sub-30 minute 5K and a sub-1 hour 10K. I don't aim to be a speed demon, but I'd like to challenge myself to knock some time off of my personal bests!

What food would you most like to banish from school cafeterias?

Cori Nicholls

Soda pop. There is absolutely no nutritional value in it and sugar crashes mid-afternoon are not good for growing and learning minds...

Where do you purchase your children's clothes?

Cori Nicholls

I have had VERY good luck at thrift stores and community sales, particularly when my girls were very small...buying double the clothes for twins means keeping to a tight budget! Also - both of my girls are tall but SKINNY! They need smaller waist sizes than will fit the length of their legs, but I have had decent luck finding leggings that fit at Old Navy. Most of their favourite clothes have come from value village though. And I find brand new (including tags) stuff there ALL the time!

Cloth diapers: yea or nay?

Cori Nicholls

Definite Yea! for cloth diapers. I had my twins in CDs from the day they came home until they were two. We had to switch to disposables for a dayhome when I returned to work and that was when the rashes started. We chose cloth because we wanted to minimize the chemical absorbents that were placed next to our daughters skin. The girls have my skin sensitivities and this has proven worrisome, even though we only use dipes with gel absorbents at night! Another perk is that you can make back some of the investment when you are done with them. Cloth diapering ended up almost paying for itself in the end. After all - nobvody will buy your used disposables...but they will happily snap up some soft warm clothies! Plus, it is way grosser to come home to find out your dog ate a bunch of disposable diapers than it is to come home to a prefold that's been licked clean...even if it doesn't sound grosser...

What's your kids' favorite backyard game?

Cori Nicholls

My kids love fence doodling. We have this big ol' gate that spans our driveway and is broken beyond repair from one too many windstorms battering it. My twins love sidewalk chalk but hate drawing on cement with it. Broken gate = instant canvas. They doodle to their hearts content and, if I decide I want it gone...I take the hose to the gate. It's awesome!
