Q. When is it appropriate to call the police on your children?

A. I have called the police on my youngest, at least three times. On two of those occasions she was booked into in jail. My kids didn't seriously rebel until they were grown, other than one incident with the same daughter when she was 14, where she & some friends broke into a storage building & vandalized the contents.

My two youngest children (21 & 23) are recovering alcoholic/addicts. While my daughter was living here at the house, on probation & with no alcohol & no drug clauses in her probation order, she came home drunk a few times, denied it & I called the police both to breathalyze her & to take her to jail. The first time, she got a warning. The last two times, she wet to jail. The last time she went to jail while she was living here, I kicked her out. She was arrested a couple of months after that again & at that point, I stopped helping her pay fines, bills and her phone. It may not be stopping her behavior, but I'm not enabling it anymore, either.
