How do you stay healthy during the holiday season?

Amy Nelson

As a runner I love the holiday season! You can find a fun local race to do just about ever month of the holiday season. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. Sign up early to take advantage of cheaper race prices, and put it on the calendar before it gets pushed out by other holiday busyness. You'll be amazed how much more you can enjoy that thanksgiving dinner or Christmas turkey with a race under your belt! Don't forget to invite your friends and family to come train and race with you, or just cheer you on! It's a great time to get together with people you don't see often or who are traveling from out of town. And if you are the one traveling, no worries! There is probably a race where you're headed, and sign up for that!

What's a creative way to display family photographs?

Amy Nelson

I always get family photos for the typical places, our living room, grandparents, husbands desk at work etc, but I learned a few years ago that the kids really like it when I get a printout of the family picture just to hang in their room at their level. They love looking at them!

What are some fun alternatives to candy for passing out on Halloween? Please provide a short description and a link to an image or recipe.

Amy Nelson

We often give out glo-sticks (you can usually find them at the dollar store for a reasonable price), stickers, pencils, erasers, pretty much anything that you can use as a kids birthday party favor can be used as a trick or treat item. What you get will depend a lot on how many kids you typically get to your door. We get some, but not a whole lot, so glo-sticks are always a go to choice for us. Most kids can't resist them so it helps light them up and keep them safer on a dark night!

What's your go-to family meal made entirely with pantry staples? Please share a link to the recipe and photo if you have one.

Amy Nelson

A go to meal I can always rely on is chicken and cheese quesadillas. I always have canned chicken (or tuna), tortillas, cheese and salsa on hand so this is something quick, easy and no grocery shopping required. Bonus: my kids love them!
