We've moved to new towns/neighborhoods five times in the past two years, so it's very important (and just much more practical!) to us to not gather up a bunch of stuff that we don't use. As a result, we try to de-clutter on a continual basis: Everything that comes into our home that will not be used, goes. Gifts, goody bags, clothes that don't fit anymore - you name it - if it's not used, it goes. We know about a couple of spots in our city where homeless families stay, so oftentimes we go and drop things off there. Or we just keep our ears and eyes open and give where-ever we see there is a need.
