I love my Jesus, my husband, my kids. I’ve been a teacher, a home schooling mom, a small business owner, an international traveler, a public school parent, and a special needs mom. I’ve got six kids, some biological and some adopted.

What's a great present for a tween?

Sue

That really depends on the kid! One thing we try to think about, since we are a big family, is not littering up the house with lots of "Stuff". We buy season passes to the local water park for our tweens at Christmas time. They love it! We also have done magazine subscriptions, clothes, legos, or special events as gifts. Taking the kids out to the go cart track or a musical event and building memories together is way better than an ipod touch could ever be!

What's your family's favorite recipe for chicken or tofu?

Sue

Easy is important to me! I throw chicken breasts into a zip lock with Costco's Organic mixed seasonings over night, and throw it on the grill. Then we either eat it with salad or broccoli, or we slice it up, add tortillas and cheese, and call it fajita night. Yum! My kids don't care for tofu, but if you throw a little in the blender with a strawberry smoothie, they'll never know.

What's the best gear for playing outside? Please include a link to any product you recommend.

Sue

I don't recommend anything that could be bought at the store. There just isn't any substitute for a kid's imagination, combined with a stick, a tree, and a pile or mud for my kids. Right now they are involved in setting up pretend stores at various points of the backyard. Their currency is pebbles and sea glass from the stream; their products are mud pots, woven grass mats, and sticks. They are having a ball, making a mess, and they are the envy of the neighbors. The neighbor kids have come in with their own currency (beads from Hobby Lobby) and hand made products. Between the kid economy, the swimming pool down the street, and the ongoing bike riding games, it's going to be a great summer on our street!
