Hi! I'm Jenni. I write a frugal and product review blog that is dedicated to helping families learn to save money in all areas of their life. I love working with brands and introducing my readers to new companies that I love.

What is the biggest waste of money every family could avoid?

Jenni

Bottled Water! 24-Packs of Bottled Water can cost anywhere from $2.50 or more depending on the brand you're buying. It may be more convenient, but by purchasing a Brita or Pure Water filter system, whether it be the pitcher or faucet filter can save SO much money! Then grab 1 or 2 re-usable water bottles for everyone member in your family and keep refilling those. It saves alot more in your pocketbook, more space in your fridge, and less plastic in your trashcan :)

What's the most common financial mistake families make?

Jenni

The most common financial mistake that families make is living above their means and not using the tools that are so wide spread today...couponing! You don't have to be an EXTREME couponer to save alot of money. If you can save money on your grocery budget, then that is more that you can put towards bills, college fund, savings fund, or even a family vacation! Couponing has become the new way of saying "Charge It!". Alot of families have done away with their credit cards and started using coupons and cold hard cash. Another common mistake is buying items when they're needed. Of course then you'll pay full price! If you buy those items when they're on sale (and use a coupon) then when you actually NEED those items you'll have them and you didn't pay an arm and a leg for them either!

What's an affordable and fun family activity?

Jenni

What's an affordable and fun family activity?? My answer would be anything outdoors, weather permitting. There are so many wonderful things to do outdoors with the family. Go to the garden center in your location and buy some plants and seeds. Showing the kids how to plant a garden, no matter how small, is a great lesson for them to learn plus it's Free with the exception of the cost of seeds or plants. They'll enjoy watching as they bud and grow. Another fun activity is heading out to the local and state parks. There are tons of play equipment and places to picnic. Some state parks offer horseback riding, swimming pools, hiking, and even some have small recreational shops. Although not free, it's still an affordable option. If you're looking for an absolutely FREE option, head to the backyard. Nothing is more fun than wresting in the yard, playing ball, and having a nice bonfire come evening. That's OUR favorite thing to do. Add some hotdogs and marshmallows and you've even got supper covered for cheap!

What item should moms splurge on?

Jenni

I think that all moms should splurge on whatever makes them feel "pretty". Being a mom, you sort of lose yourself in diapers, baseball, lack of sleep, and everything else associated with being a MOM. We tend to forget that besides being a mom and wife, we are also women. Buying a new outfit, shoes, new hairdo, makeup...those sort of things gives us that feeling so we won't forget that we're women. God made us beautifully and wonderfully and we all too often forget that.
