There is a different pace in the South. It may not necessarily be slower, but it feels less frantic. People smile more, and people take time to say hello and chat -- whether you want them to or not!
Our family is a huge fan of hiking. We probably go on a hike a couple of times a month, and bring a picnic lunch. Sometimes we look for bugs, and sometimes we just walk and talk. It's great for the adults, too, because we get some exercise and wear the kids out!
The beach! It's not too bad of a drive for us, and the kids love it.
