About Erin Bender & her Blog

What's your favorite family tradition?
Birthdays. When my daughter was a baby we snuck into her room and covered it in streamers and balloons. To this day we still love to do it to both our kids, anywhere we are, hotels, home, cruise ships.
What's the most challenging thing about being both a blogger and a mom?
There are two challenges for me:
Finding the balance to write and be in the moment. To not always be on the camera or computer.
Finding a place where all family members are happy with the amount of information being revealed. That no one feels disrespected or an invasion of privacy.
What's the most rewarding thing about being a mom?
Unconditional love. Hugs. Kisses. Warmth. Silly smiles. Dripping noses. Sticky fingers. Little toes. Cuddles. Never being alone. Milestones. Birthdays. Receiving flowers. Receiving drawings. Playing dress-ups. Watching Disney movies. Shopping with them. Shopping for them. Travelling with them. Watching their wonder. Teaching them. Learning from them. Breathing with them. Smelling the roses. Becoming braver. Becoming a lioness. Becoming more forgiving, more loving, less selfish. Wanting to be better, become better, strive for better. Excuse to order chips. Reasons for my little belly & the scars that came with it. Knowing pride. Feeling love. Experiencing joy. I could definitely go on.

For car and plane trips, what are some small toys, games, or other fun tiny surprises to bring along or pack in your child's backpack? Please mention the age range for the item and include a link to a picture if you have one.

Leap Frogs Tag Pen: This little device from Leap Frogs is a must. On our road trip from New York to Florida this one gadget kept our children edutained (educated & entertained). Tag storybooks and learning activities help children build reading skills, vocabulary, phonics and writing skills. The reader (which looks like a fat pen with a metallic nib) can store audio for up to 10 books and fits in small hands easily. The reader can read books to the kids, teach them words, play games and more. We carry roughly 5-6 books with us, which are a hefty weight component, but I would carry this over an extra pair of shoes any day.
