My b/g twins just turned 1yr yesterday. I know its not time to potty train yet (heck, my two arent even walking yet), but I did have some questions. At what age did you potty train your twins? Did you teach them at the same time or separately? One potty chair or two?

I agree with Anita!

I tried to do both at 2.5 but my son was not at all ready then and I got way too frustrated. I allowed him to digress some and pursued the project slowly with my daughter. She was mostly done by 3. At their 3 year old check-up the pediatrician recommended that we at least start my son by 3.5. He showed an interest a little after 3 and trained quickly.

I hated the one potty seat we had and quickly moved to the rink that fits in the toilet for my daughter. My son wanted to face the potty like a boy so I perched him on the edge facing the toilet and he did well when it was his time.

We haven't tackled overnight training still (they're 4.5) because they just don't seem ready and their pull ups are always SOAKED in the mornings. I'm open for suggestions on overnights if anyone reading this has any.

Way to go thinking in advance but not pushing your kids yet. Have fun!

To be honest with you, your girl will probably train before your boy, but if you do it together she will probably encourage him to do everything faster. Mine fed off of one another. If one did potty then the other one thought "I'm wanna do it too". I gave up on potty chairs. I am a mother of 4 children and I didn't see the need in the transition from the potty chair to the toilet. I just bought one of the seats that fit on the pot. Even if they are scared to sit on it at first, it will pass and then you won't have to deal with the transition from potty to big toilet. Don't forget the stool. ;-)

Finally, I wouldn't start trying to potty train the girl until after 2. Mine never could hold the urine until she got to the pot until after 2. The boy will urinate in the pot easily I would say after he is 2 also. I put underwear on him and let him go in it a few times and then he wanted to go to the pot. It worked better for my older son, but the younger boy (twin) came around eventually. Giving treats or very high praise after this is very helpful. Bowel movement takes a watchful eye. My boys were harder to train than my girls. I found if I saw them pause and stand still for a moment, I could run them to the potty and they would have to do it or the rest of it in the pot and then I could praise them and give them their treat. It worked great, but slowly. Don't be discouraged. By the way, the boy probably won't want to do that until after 3 on the bowel movement.

I hope I have been helpful in some way. Let me know if I can help you more when the time comes. :)
